Definition: If a covered illness or injury occurs during your trip and our medical assistance team determines that the local medical facilities are unable to provide appropriate medical treatment, emergency medical transportation benefits can pay for you to be transported to the nearest appropriate facility. Please note that in order to receive these benefits, you or your representative must contact Allianz Global Assistance to make transportation arrangements in advance.
Example: You’re enjoying a leisurely drive on the famous Transfagarasan Highway, which winds through Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, when a sports car careens around a bend and slams into your vehicle. Because of the severity of your injuries, paramedics determine you need to be airlifted immediately to a hospital in Bucharest. Allianz Global Assistance’s team of hotline experts can arrange and pay for emergency medical transportation to the nearest appropriate hospital. If you're told you will be hospitalized for more than seven days during your trip, we can arrange and pay for economy class transportation for a friend or family member to stay with you. And once your condition has stabilized, if you’re unable to continue your trip, emergency medical transportation benefits can help you return home, with a medical escort if necessary.
