How to Get Paid Fast for Covered Travel Delays

Oh no! Your flight has a 6-hour delay.

1. Did you submit your flight info to Allianz Global Assistance prior to departure, to enable us to monitor your flight?

Yes: You may be eligible for a proactive claim payment. Once we detect your covered flight delay,* we’ll send you a text or email confirming you’re eligible for an automatic payment of $100 per person.

No: That’s OK! Time to file a claim. To receive you $100 payment, you don’t need to send receipts—just proof of a covered travel delay. No-receipts claims are typically processed within 7 business days.^

2. How would you like to receive your payment?

Check: You should receive your check within 5-10 business days, once your claim is approved for payment.

Direct Deposit: You should receive your direct deposit within 2-5 business days, once your claim is approved for payment.

Debit Card: We’ll send payment to your debit card immediately, once your claim is approved. Your funds may not show up right away, as your bank may require time to process the transaction.

3. Did your covered expenses during the delay exceed $100 per insured person, per day?

Yes: File a claim with receipts and other documentation. You may opt to file a claim for reimbursement with receipts—even if you’ve already received an automatic $100 payment! The total value of a claim may not exceed the maximum benefit limit specified in your plan, and you’ll need to show proof your expenses exceeded the $100 payment. The time required to process a claim depends on the type of claim, the circumstances of the claim and the documentation required.

No: Great! You’re all set. Safe travels!

Tips for Getting Claims Paid ASAP

  • Make sure you include all the documentation. Check the list of required documents first, so you can submit everything at once.
  • Choose to receive payment on your debit card. It’s the quickest way to receive reimbursement.

^ Proactive claim payments and no-receipts claims are only available as part of the SmartBenefits℠ included with certain travel insurance plans from Allianz Global Assistance. Check your plan documents for the definition of a covered travel delay.
