What is a travel concierge?
You might picture the person at the hotel desk who can reserve a restaurant table or tee time for you — but Allianz Travel concierges do so, so much more. Available 24-7, they’re a team of multi-lingual travel experts who handle all kind of specialized requests related to your trip. Did you know concierge services are included in several of our plans?
To reach a concierge specialist, call the number printed on your policy letter of confirmation and explain what you need. (If you’re having an emergency, contact 24-hour assistance instead.) Here’s what they can do.
Pre-trip planning is one of the best perks that’s included with the concierge benefit. Just call the concierge team to share where you’re going and the types of things you enjoy doing. For instance, say you’re visiting Durban, South Africa. While you’re there, you want to hit up the hottest cocktail bars; try the city’s signature dish, bunny chow; and do a few day trips for wildlife-spotting and hiking. You could try to figure it all out yourself… or the concierge can send you a detailed city guide with personalized recommendations.
Please note that the Concierge team is unable to plan your entire trip for you. Flights, hotels, cruises, etc. must be booked by the traveler. If you need assistance setting an itinerary or making travel arrangements, we recommend contacting a travel agent.
A couple who’s traveling to Poland wants to see the ballet at the historic Grand Theatre in Poznań. Tickets aren’t sold online, however, and no one at the box office speaks English. So they call their Allianz Travel Insurance concierge and ask for help. We’re able to get the tickets for the exact night and time they request.
Your concierge can arrange access to:
You should know, however, that your travel concierge is generally unable to secure VIP access, tickets to sold-out events or shows, or tickets that aren’t available to the general public. Also, all of our concierge benefits are service benefits, not financial benefits. This means that you’re responsible for paying any costs for the tickets, items or services a concierge helps you obtain.
You’d planned to spend your vacation lazing on the beach… but the forecast predicts seven days of rain.
What are you supposed to do now?
Call your concierge. Whether your travel plans are upended or you just realize you don’t want to do the activities you’d planned, Concierge Services can recommend alternatives. Please understand that your concierge can’t make changes to your travel reservations on your behalf, however.
You’re celebrating your 10th anniversary with a cruise in the Eastern Caribbean, and you want to make embarkation extra special. You could order a bouquet of red roses and some chocolate through the cruise line — but your wife hates roses and chocolate. Her favorite flowers are stargazer lilies, and her favorite candy is Sour Patch Kids. So you call your concierge and ask: Is it possible to have these items delivered to the stateroom as a surprise? Chances are, we can make it happen.
For one destination wedding in Jamaica, the bride had a special request: She wanted a mobile spa and hairstylist to come to the vacation rental and do hair, makeup and spa services for the entire bridal party. We found a company that could do it, obtained price quotes for various services, and booked it.
Your concierge can gladly assist with certain aspects of special occasions, such as sending a gift, ordering a cake or recommending a local caterer. We can’t organize an entire event for you, such as a wedding or a large celebration, but we can connect you with a local party planner.
Your presentation at the San Francisco medical technology conference went so well that a group of investors from Qatar wants to meet with you tomorrow night. You need to book a private room in a high-end restaurant. You need to print seven copies of your prospectus, pronto. And you need an Arabic translator. Help!
Contact your concierge. We can assist with all these business needs, plus equipment rental, messenger or courier services, and more. Typically, 24 to 48 hours’ notice is required.
Your father’s last wish was for his ashes to be scattered in the sea near Beaufort, S.C., where he grew up. It seems like a simple request, but it feels overwhelming. How are you going to do this? Is it even legal?
For complicated challenges like this, call your concierge specialist. We’re happy to help you find the answers. In this instance, we’d advise you that scattering ashes at sea is legal, but must be done at least three nautical miles from shore.1 Your concierge could assist you with all the arrangements, such as chartering a boat, ordering flowers, and booking a room at a local restaurant for a family gathering afterward.
If you or a travel companion need accommodations for a disability, chronic condition, dietary restriction, religious restriction, or anything else, your travel concierge can help. Not only do we do the research, but we can reach out to the service provider to confirm your needs can be met. If you have a food allergy, for instance, we can make a reservation for you at an allergy-friendly restaurant and explain to the chef — in the local language — the accommodations you require.
You can find an answer to almost any travel question on the Internet. But is it the right answer?
That highly reviewed restaurant suddenly closes. The best hotels are all full. And the beach everyone is posting about turns out to be way too crowded (surprise!).
That’s why you should call your travel concierge. They can make personalized recommendations to help you plan your best trip. They can contact hotels, restaurants and travel service providers directly to get answers and request accommodations. And they can arrange special experiences beyond anything you dreamed was possible.
