Definition: The supplier/itinerary change benefit reimburses you for pre-paid event or activity expenses when a cruise or tour supplier makes a change in your covered trip itinerary that prevents you from participating in that event or activity.
Benefits will not be paid if the event/activity is rescheduled during the course of the covered trip, however. Please note that coverage limits do apply.
To find out if your travel insurance plan includes the supplier/itinerary change benefit, read your policy documents and contact Allianz Global Assistance with any questions.
Example: You’ve booked a 10-day eco-tour in Costa Rica, and you paid $150 extra for a whitewater rafting trip on the Pacuare River. You’re really looking forward to it, because the Pacuare is supposed to be one of the world’s most beautiful rafting rivers, with chances to see howler monkeys and other native wildlife.
Then the rafting trip is canceled unexpectedly because the guide is sick. Instead, your tour operator substitutes a birdwatching hike. It’s fun, but it’s not the adventure you signed up for. If the operator won’t refund your rafting money, the supplier/itinerary change benefit in your travel insurance plan can reimburse you.
